After a long bus ride, Alpena came out on top in the first set. However, the Pioneers came together and took the next 3 sets from the Alpena Lumberjacks, proving that no bus ride could keep them down!

The standout student athlete of this game was Yasmine (Mimi) Decroce. The Freshman's current statistics for the season are 7 kills and 3 block assists. Mimi was the standout athlete because she had smart net play and some big kills of the night. This contributed to the team by pumping them up and rallying them to a win.
Highlights from game:
During the matchup between the Pioneers and the Lumberjacks, there were some long rallies where the Pioneers came out on top. Lexie King came into the match late but was able to secure the win for the Pioneers with the game winning kill.

Coaches comments:
Coming into our first conference game the girls were hungry for a win. It was a long trip to Alpena but it feels great to come home with a win to start off 1-0 for conference play. We continue to improve as we experience more practices and games together and look forward to more improvements and we play more conference games in the near future.

Some adjustments for next game will be to come out strong from the start and bring more energy into our warm ups.
