Standout student athlete:
The standout student athlete of this game was Yasmine (Mimi) Decroce. The Freshman's current statistics for the season are 45 kills, 3 solo blocks, 16 block assists and 14 digs. Mimi was the standout athlete because she had smart net play and some big kills of the night. This contributed to the team by pumping them up and rallying them to a win.
Highlights from game:
Delta dominated every facet of the game tonight. It was the most complete match the pioneers have played to date, with hopes of positive growth to come. The Pioneers have struggled when opponents have come back; they haven't been able to put teams away. This was not the case tonight. The Lumberjacks attempted a comeback in the 2nd set, pulling to 23-23. Kayla Baase finished the set with a kill & great serve to secure the win.
Game Statistics/Outcomes:
The Pioneers secured the win 3-0 with 5 serving aces, 33 kills, 2 solo blocks, 4 assisted blocks, and 47 digs.
Coaches comments:
I have to keep reminding myself that we've only been playing together since August 1. We're still getting comfortable with each other. Tonight, everything came together. The biggest thing tonight was our communication. We talked, we trusted each other & we played hard. I'm thrilled to see the spirit we showed tonight.
Any adjustments for next games:
We need to keep looking to get points, not just swing hard. I liked what I saw tonight on that end, and hope to see more for the rest of the season.
Additional Comments:
This Thursday will be the second official meeting with Mott this season. They've had our number so far. We have the potential to be successful verses them, and I'm really looking forward to the girls carrying tonight's momentum into Thursday.
