Buffalo, NY – The Delta men's basketball season is off to a rough start after dropping the second game of the year, 79-66 to Erie Community College in the consolation game of the Erie Classic.
After playing a thrilling and exhausting overtime the night before, the Pioneers did their best to stay with perennial power Eric CC and were down by just four at the half, 40-36. In the second half, however, Erie appeared to hit their stride while Delta hit a wall.
Jon Swift led all Delta scorers with 13 points while adding four steals and three assists. Tyler Ellis – following up a stellar game Saturday night – added 11 points and five assists. Devin Smith tossed down 10 points as well while collecting seven boards.
Ellis was named to the All-Tournament team, averaging 23 points in two games including a tournament best 34 against Lakeland Community College. Delta next plays at home on Saturday against Mid Michigan Community College in a 3pm contest.
