Wednesday night, the Delta College men’s basketball team hosted the 11th ranked Macomb Monarchs. It was the last regular season game for both teams and while Macomb had the 2nd seed wrapped up in the MCCAA East, the Pioneers were fighting to get the 5th seed. With a win and an Oakland loss, the Pioneers would move up from the 6th seed. The home team put up a valiant effort but couldn’t overcome a rough stretch in the first half and lost 58-49.
Livonia, MI - On January 21st, the Delta College men’s basketball team got beat by 38 points at the hands of the Schoolcraft Ocelots. Saturday afternoon the Pioneers played at a higher level and played with much more heart and intensity. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get enough going on the offensive end and took a tough road loss 64-48.
University Center, Michigan - In front of a packed house Saturday afternoon, the Delta College men’s basketball team hosted the nationally ranked Mott Bears. The game was one of the last home games for the Pioneers in the 2016/17 season so they took the opportunity honor their sophomores. Nine sophomores were recognized for their achievements, dedication, and commitment to the program.
Dearborn, Michigan - The Delta College men’s basketball team was in need of a win Wednesday night when they traveled to Henry Ford Community College. They had lost back to back league games and were fighting for playoff contention.
Alpena, Michigan - At the midway point of the conference season, the Delta College men’s basketball team sat tied for fourth with a record of 4-4. Saturday evening, they traveled to Alpena to face the Alpena Lumberjacks and begin the second half of the MCCAA Eastern Conference season. The Pioneer men overcame a hostile home town crowd and rolled to a 90-53 road victory.
University Center, Michigan - After back to back losses to MCCAA East leaders Schoolcraft and Mott, the Delta College men’s basketball team was in desperate need of a win to get back on track. On Saturday afternoon, they hosted the scrappy, sharp shooting St. Clair County Community College Skippers. The Pioneers were without the services of their sharp shooting guard, Trey Newsham, who was unavailable due to an injury. Without Newsham, the other Pioneer guards picked up the slack and led the squad to a 101-72 victory.
University Center, MI - The Schoolcraft Ocelots are a top tier program in NJCAA men’s basketball year in and year out. Saturday afternoon they showed the Delta Pioneers just how elite and explosive they can be. The Pioneers were stymied by the Ocelots defensive pressure all game long and it proved to be the difference in a 111-73 loss.
Flint, Michigan - The Delta Men’s basketball team knew that they would have to put together a complete basketball game to beat the 11th ranked Mott Bears on the road Wednesday night. For the Pioneers they would have to play with high energy on both ends of the court from start to finish. The Delta men did exactly that but unfortunately for the Pioneers the basketball Gods weren’t in their favor. In the end, the Pioneers lost a heart breaker 67-66 to the Mott Bears.
University Center, Michigan - Coming off a tough home loss to Oakland, the Delta Men’s Basketball team was looking to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon. The Henry Ford Hawks came into Pioneer gymnasium riding high after a big 83-80 win over Schoolcraft. In a game that was back and forth, the Pioneers prevailed and pushed their conference record to 3-1 by defeating the visiting Hawks 82-78.
University Center, Michigan - The Delta Men’s basketball team knew they would be in for a dog fight when the 13th ranked Oakland Community College Raiders came to Pioneer Gymnasium Wednesday night. The Pioneers were riding a two game winning streak and sitting atop the MCCAA Eastern Conference Division. In a game that went back and forth the Pioneers found themselves on the losing end 74-64.
Following up a decisive victory over Alpena on Wednesday night, the Pioneers found themselves with a tough challenge in front of them. The Wayne County Community College Wildcats brought an athletic and physical squad into Pioneer gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
The Delta College men’s basketball team started off the MCCAA Eastern Conference season with a convincing 112-68 victory over the visiting Alpena Community College Lumberjacks.
Saturday afternoon, the Delta College men’s basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to take down Lake Michigan Community College 105-84. The Pioneers used a combination of inside and outside play to get off to a hot start and never looked back.
