Delta College Men’s Basketball Falls at Kellogg CC, 69–66
Battle Creek, Mich. — The Delta College men's basketball team battled to the final buzzer but came up just short Saturday evening, falling 69–66 to Kellogg Community College in a tightly contested road matchup.
Delta stayed within striking distance throughout the game, trailing by just three points at halftime before trading baskets for most of the second half. Despite several late scoring chances, the Bruins were able to hold on down the stretch.
Sir Real Smith led all scorers with a game-high 38 points, shooting 14-of-26 from the field and knocking down three triples. Smith also added eight rebounds and three steals in a standout performance.
Brady Belcher contributed 15 points, while Jaylen Carthan added eight points, nine rebounds, and five assists, filling the stat sheet on both ends of the floor. Delta finished the night with 35 rebounds and seven assists, keeping the game competitive despite shooting 36.7 percent from the field.
The Pioneers fought hard defensively, holding Kellogg to 69 points and forcing multiple late possessions, but were unable to convert in the closing minutes.
Delta College moves to 3–5 on the season and will look to bounce back as it continues its schedule in the coming weeks.
