The Rain Doesn't Stop the Delta Offense Against Alpena

After the late inning comeback in the second game against Schoolcraft, Delta looked to carry that momentum over into their freezing rain-soaked doubleheader against Alpena. The field conditions were less than ideal and the weather was non-cooperative, but the heavy storms held off just long enough to get the full length games in. In the opening contest it was Madison Gentry getting the ball and collecting the win for the Lady Pioneers. Alexandria Appold came on to finish out the game on the mound. Offensively, Alyssa Jones drilled her first career triple and Kayla Gauthier, Emilee Robart and Kaylie Scott all had extra base hits to lead the offense in the win. 

Game 2 featured a home run from Game 1 pitcher Madison Gentry and an offensive barrage early. After falling behind 3-0. Delta went on to score 13 unanswered runs including the aforementioned home run, to give starting pitcher Kalen Tchorzynski, who had 2 doubles offensively as well, all the run support she would need on the mound. Robart had another double in this game increasing her batting average to a sizzling .443 on the season. The final score for game 2 was 16-8. 

The weather has been a factor in getting games in but as the temperatures are starting to rise, it appears the season can continue for Delta. The Lady Pioneers will take their 7-1 conference record into battle against Henry Ford at Delta on Friday at 3pm. A season ago, Delta took all 4 matchups against Henry Ford.
