Delta College Dominates in 106–74 Victory Over Oakland Community College
Delta College delivered its strongest offensive performance of the season on Monday night, defeating Oakland Community College 106–74 and improving to 5–3. The Pioneers showcased exceptional depth, sharp ball movement, and defensive intensity that completely shifted the game's momentum after a competitive first quarter.
The opening period featured a back-and-forth pace, ending in a 26–26 tie as both teams found early rhythm. Delta pushed the ball well in transition, while Oakland used perimeter shooting to remain level. The tone of the game changed dramatically in the second quarter when Delta turned up its defensive pressure and outscored Oakland 33–13. By halftime, the Pioneers held a commanding 59–39 lead and never allowed the Raiders back into the contest.
One of the defining factors of the night was Delta's bench production, led by Aya Mosley, who delivered a standout performance with 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting. Mosley added four rebounds and four steals while providing the spark that helped break the game open.
Makayla Watkins nearly recorded a triple-double with 13 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and five steals. Her presence on both ends of the floor guided the offense and contributed significantly to Delta's dominance. Bella Smith added 11 points and eight rebounds on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting night, while Meeghan Flikkie contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. Damaya Hartwick finished with 10 points and five assists, and Malaya Brown added 12 points paired with four steals.
Delta put together an efficient offensive showing, finishing 45-for-93 from the field at 48.4 percent. The Pioneers moved the ball exceptionally well, recording 34 assists on 45 made baskets. Their defensive pressure resulted in 20 steals and 40 Oakland turnovers, which consistently fueled Delta's transition attack. Delta also controlled the glass with 47 total rebounds.
Oakland was led by Madison Spanicciati with 23 points and six rebounds. Brooklyn Poe added 11 points, and Dakota Deel contributed nine, but the Raiders struggled overall, shooting 29.3 percent from the floor and 18.6 percent from three-point range.
Delta maintained control throughout the second half, adding 47 more points across the final two quarters and sustaining its pace until the final buzzer. With the victory, the Pioneers continue to build momentum as they move deeper into the early-season schedule.
