Lady Pioneers fall short to Lake Michigan College 68-75
The Delta College women's basketball team battled for four quarters Wednesday night but came up short in a 75–68 loss to Lake Michigan College.
Delta opened the game with strong energy, scoring 25 points in the first quarter to keep the contest tight early. Lake Michigan responded in the second quarter, gaining momentum and building a halftime advantage. Despite continued pressure from Delta, the home team maintained its lead through the second half.
Makayla Watkins led Delta College with a standout performance, finishing with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Aya Mosley added 13 points, while Fiona Meisel contributed 8 points and worked hard inside. Alexis Schlatter played a key role on both ends of the floor, tallying 8 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Damaya Hartwick directed the offense with 10 assists and added 5 steals, keeping Delta competitive throughout the game.
Delta shot 35% from the field, connected on 7 three-pointers, and went 15-for-22 from the free throw line. The Pioneers showed resilience and balance, recording 16 assists, 35 rebounds, and forcing turnovers, but were unable to overcome Lake Michigan's scoring down the stretch.
