The Pioneers opened the weekend on a high note, defeating Oakland Community College in four tightly contested sets: (25-23), (24-26), (25-23), and (25-20). The team highlighted a balanced offense and strong defensive presence to secure the 3-1 victory.
Delta totaled 43 kills on the night, with sophomore Makenzie Nearman leading the pack with a team high 11 kills and a .235 hitting percentage. Not far behind was Alexis Champagne, who added 9 kills and contributed significantly on defense with 14 digs. Nearman and Champagne each tallied 12.5 and 12.0 points, respectively, leading all scorers.
Cassie Jenema also delivered a strong performance, putting away 6 kills and notching a .375 hitting percentage. She added 3 assists and 2 digs, proving to be a consistent all-around contributor. Sophomore Emily Hays was efficient at the net with 4 kills on just 10 attempts, hitting .400 and scoring 6.0 points.
Delta's defensive effort was a key factor in the win, as the team collected 64 digs. Allison Richmond anchored the back row with a match-high 18 digs.
From the service line, the team racked up 7 service aces, with Sienna Ouendag leading with 3 aces and adding 5 digs to round out a solid performance.
The Pioneers' ability to stay composed in close sets and make key plays in crunch time proved vital. With this win, they build momentum heading into the rest of the weekend.

Game two for the weekend. The Pioneers also went home with the win 3-1 (25,10), (25-20), (22-25), and (25-23). They relied on a balanced offensive attack and strong defense effort to improve their record to 4-3 on the season
Alexis Champagne led the way with a standout performance, finishing with 16 kills, 19.5 points, and 8 digs while hitting .220. Champange was a consistent player on both sides of the net.
Right behind her was Makenzie Nearman, who delivered another standout performance with 14 kills, 12 digs and 17.0 points on the day. She was consistent all day. Cassie Jenema put together a nice performance as well. Finishing the game with 7 kills, 9 digs and added up 9.0 points
Delta totaled 43 kills and 61.0 points as a team, with a balanced attack that brought the defense alive.
This week, they face off against the Raiders at Grand Rapids Community College Monday at 6:30 PM, and the Bluejays at Muskegon Community College on Wednesday at 6:30 PM as well.
