Delta Falls to Grand Rapids Community College 3-1 in Tough Matchup
Grand Rapids, MI – The Delta College Volleyball Team put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to Grand Rapids Community College in a four-set match on September 15th.
GRCC came out strong, dominating the first two sets with scores of (25-13) and (25-12), applying consistent pressure through aggressive serving and sharp offensive execution. Delta struggled to find rhythm early but showed resilience in the third set.
Refusing to go down quietly, Delta rallied in the third, gaining momentum and capitalizing on key defensive plays to edge out a (25-21) victory. The win showcased Delta's determination and teamwork, energizing the bench and crowd.
However, GRCC regrouped and closed out the match in the fourth set with a commanding (25-13) win, sealing the 3-1 victory.
Despite the loss, several Pioneers turned in strong individual performances. Alexis Champagne led the way with 11 points and a team-high 13 digs, while Makenzie Nearman added 12.5 points and solid net play. Charlotte Fournier chipped in 6.5 points, and setter Cassie Jenema contributed 16 assists to help spark the offense.
Delta showed flashes of strong play and continues to grow as a unit. They'll look to build on the positives from this match as they prepare for their next contest.
