September 10- Alma College
The Lady Pioneers volleyball team delivered a standout performance on the road in Alma, putting on a defensive show and demonstrating strong team unity. Playing against a four-year college provided a valuable experience for the team, and head coach Angie Compton was proud of how the players rose to the occasion.
"Our defense was firing on all cylinders, and the team was in sync with each other," said Coach Compton. "It's great exposure for our girls to play against four-year colleges, and I was happy with how they stepped up."
September 14- SC4 Tournament
The Lady Pioneers kicked off the SC4 Tournament with an impressive showing against Oakland, starting the day on a high note. The team executed their game plan effectively, and morale was high. However, the momentum shifted in the next match against Kellogg, where the Pioneers faced a tough five-set battle.
"We were really happy with our performance against Oakland," Coach Compton said. "But dropping the match against Kellogg was tough because it was so mental. We came out flat, and while I was super happy with how we rebounded, we gave them enough confidence and flow that when it came down to the fifth set, they had the momentum and finished it up."
Despite the setback, the Lady Pioneers continue to demonstrate resilience and growth as they progress through the season. With valuable lessons learned from the competitive tournament and challenging matchups, the team is well-prepared to tackle upcoming games with renewed focus and determination.
September 19- Muskegon CC
The Delta College Pioneers faced a tough conference matchup at home, falling to Muskegon Community College in a 3-1 contest with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 18-25, and 22-25. Despite a strong start, the Pioneers couldn't hold off the surging Jayhawks, dropping their first matchup against Muskegon for the season.
Delta came out swinging in the first set, using a late rally to secure a 25-20 win. However, Muskegon CC found their rhythm in the second set and built momentum through the remainder of the match.
Offensively, Ashlee Lenhard led the Pioneers with 13 kills, supported by solid blocking from Ashlee who each contributed 2 blocks. Sienna Ouendag led the defense, recording 16 digs, while two players Sarah Hauck and Sarah Vandecar added 2 service aces apiece.
Despite being out-blocked 14-4 and outhit with a team percentage of .075 compared to MCC's .228, Delta's defense showed resilience, recording 65 total digs to MCC's 53. However, they couldn't overcome MCC's tough serving, as the Jayhawks recorded 12 aces to Delta's 5.
September 21- Alma College
On September 21, the Delta College Pioneers battled Alma College but came up short, losing 1-3 in a hard-fought match. The set scores were 16-25, 14-25, 25-16, and 12-25. Despite a third-set victory, the Pioneers couldn't maintain momentum.
Delta struggled in the opening sets, hitting at a negative percentage in set one (-.056) and slightly improving in set two (.103). Alma College capitalized on the early errors to take both sets, 25-16 and 25-14, respectively.
The third set saw a resurgence from the Pioneers, who played with renewed energy and hit .231 with 13 kills, cutting Alma's lead with a 25-16 win. Unfortunately, Delta couldn't sustain the pressure, and Alma took control in the fourth set, closing the match with a dominant 25-12 score.
Offensively, Delta's strongest performance came in the third set, where the Pioneers registered 13 kills. However, the team struggled with consistency, hitting below .000 in two sets.
September 21- Hiram College
On September 21, the Delta College Pioneers fell to Hiram College in a 1-3 match, with set scores of 16-25, 14-25, 25-16, and 12-25. Despite a strong third-set win, the Pioneers were unable to maintain momentum and suffered their second loss of the day.
Delta started the first set with a .154 hitting percentage and 9 kills but couldn't keep up with Hiram's attack, dropping the set 16-25. In the second set, the Pioneers' offensive efficiency dipped to .050, and they struggled to find consistency as Hiram took the set 25-14.
The third set showcased a turnaround for Delta, who tightened up their play and hit .226 with 11 kills, securing a 25-16 victory. However, Hiram responded quickly in the fourth set, closing out the match with a 25-12 win.
Delta's offense was led by strong individual performances, but overall inconsistency hurt the team, particularly in sets two and four, where they hit .050 and .021, respectively.
September 24- Bay College
The Delta College Pioneers secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Bay College on September 24, winning with set scores of 25-12, 25-14, and 25-14. The win brings Delta to a 9-9 overall record and 1-2 in conference play.
Delta came out strong in the first set, hitting .345 as a team with 14 kills and just 4 errors. They maintained their momentum throughout the match, taking the second set 25-14 with 8 kills, before closing out the sweep in the third set with a .242 hitting percentage and 11 kills.

Ashlee Lenhard was incredibly efficient, tallying 7 kills on just 8 attempts for a .875 hitting percentage. Emily Hays contributed 6 kills, and the team finished with 11 service aces and 47 digs.
On the defensive side, Delta's blocking was a key factor, with the team recording 8 block assists and a solo block from Lenhard. Sienna Ouendag anchored the defense with 8 digs, while Sarah Vandecar added 11 digs to round out a well-balanced team effort.
